Huh? Giant Rubber Duck and Pittsburgh Pirates Playoff Baseball? Are those two things that you would ever think would be in the same sentence, much less happening in Pittsburgh? Well, they are both happening, and happening right now! The Pittsburgh Pirates triumphed over the Cincinnati Reds last night 6-2 for their first playoff victory in 21 years. It was just incredible to watch, with the team and fans more pumped up than I’ve ever seen a baseball crowd! Congrats to the Buccos and bring on the St. Louis Cardinals! It’s almost surreal to have Pittsburgh Pirates playoff baseball back in the ‘Burgh!
Now on to this duck. I’m sure that many of you have heard about/seen it before, and it made its first stop in the US in Pittsburgh. I headed downtown last Friday night, the first night that the giant rubber duck was in town. They were having a Duck Bridge Party on the Roberto Clemente Bridge and it was PACKED, I’m talking hard able to move packed. I’ve never seen so many people on the bridge before. I managed to grab some pretty cool shots of the giant rubber duck from a couple different angles and will definitely be stopping down again before it departs on October 20!
It’s Buctober and Ducktober in the Steel City of Pittsburgh! This city is ready for the Giant Rubber Duck and Pittsburgh Pirates Playoff baseball!
